Examining the Cat's Head Nebula with the Hubble and JWST

The Cat's Head Nebula proudly rises in this Hubble Space Telescope image. It's a star-forming region within the larger Carina Nebula, an even larger star-forming region. Recently, both the Hubble and the JWST imaged the Cat's Head as part of the ongoing scientific effort to understand the complex process of star formation. Image Credit: NASA, ESA, STScI. Star formation is a complicated process. It involves metallicity, gas temperature and density, dust grains, and stellar feedback from existing stars. Sometimes, studying all these factors and how they work means studying some of Nature's most beautiful structures, like the Cat's Head nebula in the Carina Nebula.
