Are the JWST's Early Overrmassive Black Holes Just Normal-Range Outliers?

This artist's illustration shows the quasar J0313-1806, which was identified as the earliest known supermassive black hole, which weighs in at more than 1.6 billion times the mass of the Sun. It existed only about 670 million years after the Big Bang. The existence of these overmassive blackh holes posed a problem for researchers, since according to our understanding, didn't have enough time to grow so massive. The JWST found an abundance of overmassive black holes at high redshifts, pushing the limits of black hole (BH) science in the early Universe. Results have claimed that these BHs are significantly more massive than expected from the BH mass-host galaxy stellar mass relation derived from the local Universe. But new research shows they were just outliers in the normal range of masses that don't require any special causes.
